The proposed program is led by Andrew Bottomley, PhD. Dr. Bottomley is a Chartered Psychologist and an Assistant Director of the EORTC. He has been Head of the EORTC Quality of Life Department at the EORTC Headquarters for 12 years. He has authored or co-authored over 98 peer reviewed publications in psychosocial oncology and HRQOL.

Chantal Quinten will lead the daily supervision of activities of the program. Chantal Quinten has an MSc in Economics and Statistics. She has gained broad international experience working with large institutions, including a period working for the World Health Organization (WHO) – Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Appointed within the EORTC since 2007, she has been working on the prognostic factor analysis for a large-scale analysis project completed in 2008.

Statistical supervision will be provided by Corneel Coens, MSc in Biostatistics. He has been a senior statistical expert for the EORTC Quality of Life Department for over seven years and has over 50 peer reviewed publications. He has been involved in various aspects of HRQOL in many cancer clinical trials, ranging from instrument validation to design, analysis and reporting of HRQOL and psychosocial endpoints. He is a regular contributor to various EORTC educational courses and served as a faculty member of the Joint FECS/AACR/ASCO Workshops.

Additional statistical support will be provided by Francesca Martinelli, MSc in Biostatistics. Francesca Martinelli is a research Fellow at EORTC since March 2008. Previously she worked as a biostatistician for the Center for Cancer Study and Prevention (CSPO) in Florence, Italy. She is co-author of several papers.

Additional statistical support will be provided by John Maringwa, PhD. Dr. Maringwa obtained his PhD in Mathematics (2008), and a Master's degree in Biostatistics (2004) from Hasselt University, Diepenbeek. His research interests include analysis of Quality of Life data from clinical trials, smoothing techniques and Bayesian methods. He has authored and co-authored a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals on smoothing of longitudinal data, notably in Statistics in Medecine and Biometrical Journal.

Jurgen Vercauteren has a Master in Applied Biosciences and Engineering (1999) and a MSc in Statistics (2006). He obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences in 2009 at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. He will act as a research fellow at the QoL department, investigating the association between Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) compliance and socio-demographic and/or clinicial factors of patients in cancer clinical trials. Previously he worked as a bio-statistician for the Clinical and Epidemiological Virology division of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, in Belgium and has authored and co-authored several papers.

Administrative, financial and web support will be provided by Irina Ghislain. Irina Ghislain graduated in Clinical Psychology and has a Master's degree in Psychology. In the past, she has worked for the Quality of Life Department as a Data Manager for field studies.
