Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to attend the third EORTC-NCI-ASCO Annual Meeting on “Molecular Markers in Cancer” to be held in Brussels, Belgium from October 15 to October 17, 2009.
“Shaping the Future of Biomarker Research” is the main theme of the 2009 Annual Meeting, a meeting whose goal is to foster a patient centred approach to translating clinically useful information from the laboratory bench to the bedside. This goal can be reached by strengthening scientific collaborations among researchers and clinicians throughout the world, and the EORTC, NCI and ASCO are hosting this series of meetings to support just such an effort.
As the Chairs of the Scientific Committee, we are pleased to be able to offer you an outstanding program featuring breakthroughs in translational research. Stakeholders, including laboratory scientists, pathologists, clinicians, statisticians, industry representatives, healthcare providers, regulatory agencies and patient advocates, will discuss the use of cancer biomarkers to assess drug efficacy and toxicity, technology improvement to perform comprehensive molecular analyses on blood and tumour biopsies for prognostic and predictive evaluation, molecular and functional imaging, new endpoints for clinico-genomic trials and ethical-legal issues in biomarker research.
The Meeting will allow discussion and interactions between the faculty and the participants, and for this reason we hope to have a high level of participation from young investigators. On October 14, 2009, prior to the main meeting, we will hold a tutorial that will be open to selected young oncologists and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry.
We look forward to seeing you in Brussels!
